Kokrajhar, June 16: Assam PCC secretary and chief co-ordinator of the BTC Congress Committee Chandi Basumatary charged the ruling BTC leaders of indulging in corruption and siphoning off of public money, meant for development in the region.
Basumatary said the BPF leaders ruling the BTC, including its chief Hagrama Mohilary are involved in corruption.
“The BPF leaders running the BTC are indulging in corruption, because of which the common people are being deprived of various development schemes,” he alleged.
He said no scheme or project in BTC is passed without the exchange of money. “One needs to bribe to pass the schemes to the executive member, officers and party office bearers,” Basumatary said.
The former Tamulpur legislator was in Kokrajhar to attend a meeting of the Kokrajhar district congress committee at Ranendra Narayan Basumatary Bhawan.
Basumatary said the Congress would contest and field their own candidates in the coming Lok Sabha election and win.
He said the party will soon nominate a candidate in the Nonoi Serfang BTC constituency by-election, which is lying vacant after Santiuse Kujur was elected to the Rajya Sabha.
