Arms snatched
Imphal, Aug. 30 (PTI): Naga militants snatched two AK-47 rifles and two Insas rifles with loaded magazines from an escort party of Manipur Rifles when the jawans had gone into a hotel for a meal in Tamenglong district, police said today.
The incident took place last evening at Sibilong village on NH 37 in Tamenglong district, the police said. Armed Naga militants overpowered the Manipur Rifles personnel inside the hotel and snatched away their arms and ammunition at gunpoint after taking them to a nearby jungle.
Bagan Bazar
Jorhat: Jorhat MP K.P. Tasa on Tuesday inaugurated Bagan Bazar shops at Dafalating and Govindpur tea estates in the district to provide essential commodities to tea workers at fixed prices.

Guwahati: The Kamrup district administration has launched an online leave management system, designed by IIT Guwahati, for its officers and staff.
RTI training
Guwahati: A training programme on RTI Act, 2005, was held at the deputy commissioner's office in Wokha on Tuesday. More than 90 participants from different departments, NGOs and educational institutions participated in the programme that was sponsored by the Union ministry of personnel, public grievances and pension and department of personnel and training.
Four held
Guwahati: City police arrested four ATM thieves from the Betkuchi area of the city on Tuesday and recovered one passbook updating machine they had stolen from the Vinobanagar branch of State Bank of India recently. Police also seized two cars used by them. The accused have been identified as Sahab Ali, Safiqur Rahman, Mainul Haque and Saddam Hussain.
Waterlogging
Nagaon: Several areas in Diphu, the district headquarters of Karbi Anglong district, were waterlogged by continuous rain during the past 24 hours.
