Road mishap

Dhubri, Sept.13: Masum Sheikh, 8, died on the spot, while his uncle Sheikh Jahangir Alom, 40, was seriously injured when a speeding truck hit the motorcycle they were riding on at Jhagrarpar on Guru Tegh Bahadur Road today. Sheikh was admitted to Dhubri civil hospital. The truck driver was arrested and the vehicle seized.

Murder probe

Jorhat: Rohit Munda, a youth of Daklangia tea estate, was lynched by a mob inside the garden on Sunday after he reportedly killed a local, Raju Orang, on the Kaliapani bridge inside the estate. Investigation is on over both the killings.

Protest

Jorhat: The All Assam College Employees' Association on Sunday decided to support the proposed demonstration to be staged at Jantar Mantar in Delhi by the All India College and University Employees' Federation on December 2-3 in support of their demand of including the non-teaching staff under the purview of the UGC scale.
