Singing paeans to Arunachal Pradesh
When Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan landed in Arunachal Pradesh for the first time last year, he was captivated by the natural beauty of the Himalayan state.
Now he is back again for what he calls his “tribute to beautiful Arunachal”.
The singer and his wife Deepa are promoting Arunachal’s scenic beauty through a music video of their album Upahar.
“We want to show the world the exquisite natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh. And that is why we have come all the way to shoot this music video here,” said Udit. The album will be released in October, Deepa revealed.
The first part of the album was shot in Nepal in July this year.
The singers also announced plans to cut an album in three local languages — Nyshi, Adi and Apatani.
Credited with five national awards, Udit has plans to direct Hindi feature films in future. Enamoured with the scenic beauty of Arunachal Pradesh, he wants to shoot a film in the state. “Last year I was invited by the state government as a guest in Tawang during Buddha Mahotsav. I just fell in love with the place, its scenic beauty, ethnicity and cultural diversity. I then decided to visit the place again. I am very happy to be here again.” he said.
After gaining popularity as a fashion designer through his numerous shows across the country, home grown fashion designer Dipankar Kashyap has now made his mark as a choreographer.
Kashyap was specially invited to choreograph Nouvelle Mode, a fashion show organised by the International Institute of Fashion Design, New Delhi, on its Vikas Puri campus.
This is the first time that Kashyap has exclusively choreographed an institutional show for a fashion school, where he was not showcasing any of his collections.
The show presented creations by students of the institute. The show was divided into 11 themes — Red Wine, Retro, Flora and Fauna, Formula 1 and other sections.
“What really inspired me was that the designs that were divided into 11 attractive and creative themes. The clothes, though not regular attire, were quite dramatic and since I am into films these days, they helped my choreography. I put special effort into the selection of music to do justice to the dramatic yet creative garments,” said Kashyap, who has been flooded with offers to do more such shows as a choreographer across the country.
Parishmita Taye of St Xavier’s School, Duliajan has made the state proud. She has been selected for the National Seminar to be held at the National Science Centre, New Delhi, on October 5.
She was selected from 28 students who participated at the state-level students’ science seminar on Global Climate Change and its Impact at the Regional Science Centre in Guwahati on August 29.
An aptitude test was held during the seminar, followed by presentation by each student on Global Climate Change and its Impact. Students, teachers and distinguished guests were present in the seminar.
There were altogether 28 participants from different districts of the state.
