Guwahati, July 28: Naokata Milan Higher Secondary School, Baksa, will lock horns with Ujjalpur High School, Udalguri, in the final of the third Inter-district School Under-17 Football Tournament at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.
In the semi-finals played at Nehru Stadium here today, the Udalguri School edged past Hem Baruah Higher Secondary School, Sonitpur, by a solitary goal while the Naokata School girls got the better of Rani High School, Kamrup (Metro) 2-0.
Elima Kumari netted the all-important goal for the Udalguri school in the semi-final encounter against Hem Baruah School. In the other semi-final, Dibi Boro scored both the goals for the Baksa school in the 55th and 57th minutes.
Both the matches witnessed a keen contest among the young schoolgirls on an extremely humid afternoon.
In the quarter-finals this morning, the Baksa school beat Kiang Khasia Memorial Tribal High School, Hailakandi 1-0 with Dibi Boro scoring in the 16th minute, while Ujjalpur School, Udalguri, edged past Lakhimpur High School, Darrang by a solitary goal.
Rani High School rode a double brace by Suravi Rabha (21st, 24th, 32nd and 52nd minutes) and another brace by Anita Boro (27th and 54th minutes) to rout Gelabil Girls' High School, Golaghat 6-0.
In another match, the Sonitpur school got the better of Amsoi High School, Nagaon 2-1 with Abinashi Proja (10th minute) and Priti Topno (19th minute) scoring for the winners and Hima Das netting the only goal for the Nagaon school. The final will be played at 4pm tomorrow.
