Sivasagar, Dec. 5: Paramhans Singh, the businessman who was abducted by suspected Ulfa militants (Paresh Barua faction) on Monday, managed to escape from captivity on Tuesday morning.

Police said Singh’s abductors fled soon after a Tata Sumo stopped near the house where he was kept captive. “Singh found himself alone and fled. He reached Demow police station early this morning,” a police official at Demow police station said.

The official said the abductors may have thought that the Tata Sumo which stopped near the house belonged to security personnel and hence fled leaving Singh alone.

Singh was abducted by armed men from his kiln at Dihajan on Monday.
