Agartala: The Tripura government has adopted a target of covering over 80,000 BPL families with power connectivity under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Jyoti Yjana (DDGJY), Tripura power minister Manik Dey said here on Monday. Over 55,000 have already been covered till date this year.

Speaking to reporters at his office in the state secretariat this evening, Dey said officials of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) were instructed to ensure power connection to all recognised habitation of the state. At a review meeting of the power department on Monday, officials from all subdivisions of the state discussed nuances of power services.

The meeting involved threadbare discussion on a number of central schemes on power connectivity.
