Kokrajhar, Sept. 9: Two top NDFB (S) militants, including the ex-personal security officer of top NDFB (S) leader, G. Bidai, were arrested from Chirang district today.
BTAD inspector-general of police L.R. Bishnoi said the rebels were arrested during two separate operations.
He said Biron Narzary alias N. Bapeibai, 29, of Khungring Hantupara was arrested from Patabari this morning.
Narzary is a senior cadre of the outfit and ex-PSO of most-wanted NDFB (S) rebel G. Bidai.
Later in the day, another operation was conducted in which another NDFB (S) rebel, Swmkwr Basumatary alias B. Sukao, 23, of Koilamoila Norbidangi was arrested from Sishubari in the district.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from both the rebels.
Bishnoi said the two rebels were involved in the December 23 killing of Adivasis. They were also directly involved in the kidnapping of two Bhutanese citizens in September 2002.
Basumatary was in the group involved in the killing of schoolgirl Priya Basumatary in Chirang last year, superintendent of police Ranjan Bhuyan said.
