Kolkata-based label Jalsaghar Calcutta is making classic brooches inspired by Satyajit Ray’s cult movies, like Nayak, Aparajito, Jalsaghar and more. The label lines up some unique recherché designs in silver featuring contemporary details. The Nayak and Aparajito brooches, for instance, present the calligraphic design of the films’ title as originally designed by Ray, in pure 92.5 silver with a monochrome effect.

The Jalsaghar brooch features an intricate chandelier motif carved in silver with red stones setting, to represent the iconic scene from Ray’s Jalsaghar where Begum Akhtar performed beneath a chandelier.
