The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) is bringing Kolkatans a slice of 14 global cuisines, whipped up by internationally celebrated chefs, through a three-day International Food Festival on April 22, 23, and 24. Presented by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and supported by the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), the International Food Festival was inaugurated by state ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya and Sovandeb Chattopadhyay on April 22 at 4pm.
The food festival will see native fare from Malaysia, Sweden, Turkey, Armenia, Mexico, Bangladesh, Namibia, Italy, Iran, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Japan, England, and India! Try chef Terry Jenkinson’s African fat cakes (deep-fried doughnuts), chef Jaheda Begum’s Bangladeshi UC Bella Biscuit (a famed dish in Chittagong) and of course, chef Sudipta Mazumder’s Bengali delicacies.
“We are delighted to be able to organise this International Food Festival live in Kolkata. International Hospitality Day is an occasion for the hospitality fraternity across the world to come together and experience the camaraderie that we have shared. The support of CII and WBIDC has added to the event’s glamour and prestige,” said Dr Suborno Bose, chairman and chief mentor at IIHM.
