Kaee Contemporary is currently hosting an exhibit titled ‘When the Other Stares Back’. Curated by Adwait Singh, the showcase features artworks by four female artists from Kolkata — Jayashree Chakravarty, Radhika Agarwala, Sonia Mehra Chawla and Suhasini Kejriwal. For the exhibit (which will go on till April 30), each artist staged an encounter with non-human actants such as — plants, plankton or animals — that are left vulnerable at the hand of man. Ranging from melancholic to monstrous, these motifs are represented as warnings against landscapes to come. (In frame: Radhika Agarwala’s sculpture that attempts to capture inter-species struggles)
