A woman carries an idol of Ganesh at Kumartuli on Tuesday. According to Drik Panchang, the festival is celebrated in the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month which, as per the Gregorian calendar, falls in August or September. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will begin on August 31.
