Cyclone Remal: Precautions in place amid spells of rain and gusty winds in Kolkata and coasts of West Bengal

The severe cyclonic storm is expected to make landfall by midnight between Bangladesh's Khepupara and West Bengal’s Sagar Island

1/11 The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Remal’ over the north Bay of Bengal moved nearly northwards at a speed of 13 kmph and lay centered about 180 km south-southwest of Khepupara and 220 km south of Mongla (both in Bangladesh), 160 km southeast of Sagar Islands and 190 km south-southeast of Canning in West Bengal. A wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph prevails around the cyclone centre
