In pictures: Inside musician Diptanshu Roy’s latest project Dolinman X's first concert

Instrumental creations to covers of ‘Kolkata’ and ‘Kotoi Ranga,’ and more — it was an evening of celebrating the many notes of Roy’s music

1/7 The first public concert of musician Diptanshu Roy’s Dolinman X series took place at First Flush cafe in Gariahat on September 10. The name of the series — also the singer’s screen name — Dolinman is an anagram of  mandolin, the musical instrument he’s a master of. Diptanshu teamed up with singer Prajna and classical guitarist Abhijit Kundu for the concert. The project is a collaborative series with artists from various genres of performing arts

5/7 “The idea of this series came to me in 2021 during the pandemic when I started to miss interacting with fellow musicians and the audience,” said Diptanshu about the project when introducing the series. The musical evening continued with a ‘bhawaiya’ number from Cooch Behar, and songs like ‘Kotoi ranga dekhi duniyay’, ‘Cheye cheye dekhi saradin’ and more. Each piece had a creative take by the trio, adding more surprises to the evening

You can find the Dolinman X playlist on YouTube to tune in. Diptanshu will be performing on September 23, at 9pm at ITC Royal Bengal’s The Brass Room with his bluegrass band NSA
