Changemakers working towards a green world were recognised as Green Architects 2024 by Hulladek Recycling at a recent event in Kolkata.
Innovators, activists, and entrepreneurs got together at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore to find a blueprint for a greener, more sustainable future. Through engaging discussions, interactive exhibits, and insightful presentations, the participants were not just inspired but also empowered to take action.
“We hope to bring together a community of people who individually contribute towards the betterment of the planet. The idea is to bring these people together on one stage and give them the recognition they deserve. In the long run, there are so many aspects attached to sustainability and fashion is one of them, which I believe not many people are aware of. We wish to showcase to our audiences the beauty of recycling and how and what waste can be turned into to encourage people to recycle,” said Nandan Mall, founder and managing director, Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd.

Aradhana Chatterjee, an award winner in the Greenfluencer category, has been enlightening and empowering her followers with content on soil waste, air pollution, and recycling.
“I have always believed that a person who has tried to climb Mt Everest must also get the same appreciation as a person who has climbed the mountain. I have met women on the street without any educational background or any skills who make just Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 a month but feed a family of 15 to 20 people. I do realise that in the current times we are highly exposed to the internet where we get to see people making crores a month but my main motive behind being an influencer was to bring this change and awareness. I feel people who make a difference even on a small scale deserve to be applauded. As an influencer I try to bring a change in the society by doing my bit and I still have a long way to go,” Chatterjee said.

Ankur Chaturvedi, AVP, Health Safety and Environment, Emami Limited, has been a catalyst for change and sustainability, pioneering waste management strategies across departments and championing e-waste initiatives. “I strongly believe that our education system needs to inculcate the value of sustainability in our children. I want my children and people of their generation to adopt a three step approach. First, increase the temperature of the AC by 2 degrees. Second is carrying a bag whenever out shopping, and the last is walking the talk literally and choosing not to drive.”

Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, director of the Zoological Survey of India, introduced a new range of products crafted from electronic waste, as part of Hulladek Recycling's upcycling initiative.
“One of the most interesting parts of this ceremony for me was walking the ramp with a bunch of very young college students. It’s a first of a kind experience for me. Besides, it is a wonderful opportunity as well to support the cause of sustainability for a greener tomorrow,” she said.
