The starters counter and the bar fueled the energy of the visitors. There were three vegetarian and four non-vegetarian lip-smacking starters like mixed grilled seafood, grilled sausage salami and offals. The beverages were sponsored by Bacardi and included both cocktails and mocktails. Tea and coffee were served too
The main course comprised 24 dishes ranging from vegetarian, chicken, fish to pork and beef. Dishes like Indonesian fish curry, Sirloin Steak, Pork Vindaloo were a hit. Food in-charge and third-year student Jeroen Smith said: ‘We are expecting a footfall of 1,200. We have a spread of different world cuisines here. It is truly a celebration of culture through food’
The desserts table was laid out with a whopping 18 items from waffles, smores, dark chocolate and white chocolate brownies, tarts, rum balls, doughnuts and more. Lecturer and chef Subhadip Saha said: ‘We have tried to keep a variety of desserts. Doughnuts and many other items will be made live to elevate the experience’
Speaking about the Gourmet Nite, IHM Kolkata principal Raja Sadhukhan said: ‘All arrangements are made by the students and staff of the institute to make this event an extravagant affair. The theme intends to celebrate the culture and carnivals around the world. We have dishes from places like Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Goa. We are thankful to the ministry of tourism for supporting us’
