The offering to the deities includes 60kg rice, 100kgs of mixed vegetables and 115 to 120 kinds of sweets. Even soft drinks, ‘phuchka’, chocolates and whatever devotees eat in day-to-day life are offered

The puja was started in 1985 by late Bhupati Bhattacharya and is now being continued by his son, Subrata, and daughter-in-law, Lopamudra Bhattacharya

Around 600 to 700 devotees come to the Bhattacharya household to receive the ‘prasad’ from afternoon till night

The family head, Subrata Bhattacharya, said: ‘Annakut Puja is a way of life for us which we cannot give up. Wherever we are, my wife and I ensure that we continue with our family tradition with utmost dedication and faith’
