Varsity nod to tech courses

Ranchi, July 21: Ranchi University today decided to give a nod to start several technical courses in different institutions across the state.

It also gave affiliation to start a Master of Computer Application (MCA) course at RVS College of Engineering and Technology, Jamshedpur, for 2008-09. RVS, which offers BTech in different streams, was also given an extension of affiliation.

Ranchi-based Bethesda Women Teachers’ Training College, which offers Bachelor of Education (BEd) studies was extended permanent affiliation on condition that RU authorities would review its performance every three years.

RU authorities also resolved to issue a no-objection certificate to the proposed Jharkhand law school in Kokar area that may start offering integrated five-year law degree courses once it gets a clearance from the Bar Council of India and the state government.

Ram Tahal Choudhary BEd College in Buti near Ranchi, offering Bed courses, was given affiliation for 2008-09 session.

Gamharia-based Xavier’s Institute for Tribal Education, which offers bachelor of business administration (BBA) studies exclusively for students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe, was also extended affiliation.

For degree courses, Pandra-based Sanjay Gandhi Memorial College was extended affiliation for 2008-11, 2009-12 and 2010-13 sessions.

Patamda College in East Singhbhum was also extended affiliation to run different degree courses for 2008-11 and 2009-12 sessions.

AK Singh College, Japla, Palamau, was given affiliation for the 2008-11 session to run degree courses.

A meeting of RU’s Affiliation and New Teaching Programme Committee chaired by vice-chancellor A.A. Khan took the decisions while clearing the proposals based on reports of various inspection committees.

Exam date changed

In the wake of tomorrow’s bandh called by Naxalites, RU has decided to postpone the Part-I degree and Part-I post-graduate examinations to July 27 and August 6, respectively.

Other ongoing examinations for BTech, MCA and LLM would take place, said university spokesperson S.S. Akhtar. A detailed official programme would follow.
