Ranchi, May 21: Two women in their twenties were found dead in Palamau and Giridih districts today, barely 48 hours after the body of a young woman was found in a school in Chatra and a 21-year-old girl was strung from a tree and shot in Gumla.
In Palamau, the woman, said to be married, was found dead with two bullet injuries on her chest on Japla-Navinagar Road in Hussainabad police station area, about 70km from the district headquarters. The unidentified body, lying in a pool of blood, was first noticed by a passer by around 6.30am who informed the police, said a local resident.
Police also recovered two used cartridges from the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
In Giridih, a partially decomposed body of another unidentified woman was found hanging from a tree at Jamatara village in Dumri thana area, 42km from the district headquarters. It was sent for post-mortem to PMCH, Dhanbad.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dumri police station Shailendra Kumar Singh said the body was found hanging from a tree with a sari. "So far, it has also not become clear whether it was a suicide or murder," said the OC.
Unnatural death of four women in three days might direct towards rise in crime against woman in state but inspector general (IG) M.S. Bhatia denied any such indication. "It's a coincidence that four bodies of women have been recovered in the last three days. Though the bodies were found under similar circumstances, these were separate incidents. These doesn't suggest any organised crime against women. We are thoroughly investigating the cases," said IG Bhatia.
Even after 48 hours of the discovery of a partially decomposed body at a primary school in Chatra on May 19, neither it has been identified nor police are able to find any clue.
Similarly, in the case of Divya Kumari's murder at Bharno in Gumla, police are still clueless.
