Patna, July 1: Bihar ke lala Manoj Tiwari has struck the Bollywood chord with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur.

The Bhojpuri singer-actor is savouring the taste of success after delivering the Wasseypur hit Jiya ho Bihar ke lala, jiya tu hazaar saal. The film received positive response from film buffs as well as critics from across the country.

“My dream to make an entry into Bollywood has finally come true. The door has opened and people are ready to welcome me with an open arm. Earlier, I was just limited to Bhojpuri films but now the Bollywood fraternity has liked my song, which is a big achievement for me,” Tiwari told The Telegraph.

Manoj added that after Jiya ho Bihar ke lala, which gave him instant fame, he has lent his voice for a yet-to-be-titled film.

“As soon as the song from Wasseypur picked up, I started getting calls from many music composers. But I accepted the offer of Bappi Lahiri. He recorded a song for a film starring Mithun Chakraborty and son Mahaakshay. It was a wonderful experience, the song was recorded at Empire Studio in Mumbai,” he said.

On the lyrics of the song featuring Mahaakshay, he said: “The lyrics go like this: Baiyees saal ho gavo re, ey kaki hamara shaadi karai de, ishq ke dariya me dubki lagwaye de. As Bappida is very particular while recording a song, he made sure that the lyrics get the right beats. It took almost two hours to record the song. It was fun working with him. Bappida liked the song and also appreciated the number in Wasseypur.”

He added: “In the next two days, I will lend my voice for a song in a Sanjay Dutt film. I have been getting a number of calls but I aspire to sing for Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and (Amitabh) Bachchan saheb.”

“Amitji, in his June 23 blog, has praised Gangs of Wasseypur. Though my name is not mentioned in the blog, he has strongly recommended the film and I am of course a part of it. It is a privilege that such a big star is writing blogs about the film. The movie must have touched his heart,” said the actor.

If you had thought Manoj Tiwary could be restricted to songs only then read on.

For the first time, Tiwary will find a place in the field of acting in Bollywood. “My dream of venturing into Bollywood as an actor has taken shape. The shooting of my first film, Palayan (migration) would start in September,” he said. When asked about the script, he said it is undergoing some changes.
