Jamshedpur, Jan. 18: Senior BJP leader Sarayu Roy today announced that he would carry out a survey regarding the municipal services enjoyed by steel city residents.

Roy said that he had got printed questionnaires, seeking feedback from people residing in slums, Tata Steel command areas and sub-lease areas.

“The idea of carrying out the survey is to get a feedback from people about civic amenities. During the renewal of lease in 2005, Tata Steel had committed to the state government to provide all necessary public utility services including water, electricity, road, education and sewerage. The survey would reveal whether the steel company keeps its commitment,” said Roy.

The questionnaire will have multiple options.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating civic amenities, Roy advocated that the steel company can also charge tax or cess for the services it is providing as per the provisions of the Bihar-Orissa Municipal Act.

The BJP leader went on to say that the survey would bring to light the preferences of the people. “I have decided to carry out such a survey keeping in view the larger interest of the people. Based on the survey, necessary suggestions can also be given to the steel company for improvements,” he added.
