Archer Deepika Kumari (in red) takes aim during a practice session at Kumara Mangalam Stadium in Bokaro on Friday.

Players from Ranchi’s Silli ruled the proceedings on Day Two of the 10th Jharkhand State Archery Championship, bagging the maximum number of honours up for grabs.

The Tata archers took charge in the sub-junior girls’ 20m category with Namrata Chauhan bagging the top honour in the group followed by Dhanbad’s Sangita and Silli’s Simpi Kumari who bagged the second and third prizes, respectively. However, it was a power-packed performance by the Silli archers who ended up with the top spots in most of the remaining events.

In the boys’ category of the same event Silli called the shots with Mukesh Turi and Sourav Giri finishing on the first and third spots respectively. Seraikela-Kharsawan’s Chitaranjan managed the second spot.

The womens’ 40m junior event threw up no surprises either with Silli’s Simpi Kumari finishing first, with Lohardaga’s Indrani Kujur and Jai Lalita (Silli) bringing up the rear.

The mens’ 40m category saw Rajesh Manjhi of Seraikela-Kharsawan finishing on top, ahead of Ranchi’s M Soren and Bokaro’s Mahendra Karmali.
