Ranchi, July 9: Science was an excuse for students to take a break from studies.

Around 225 students of 100 state-run schools participated in the Jawaharlal Nehru Children’s Science Exhibition at Zilla School today.

The event will continue for two more days.

The topic for the exhibition was “science and technology for global sustainability”. Students put up models on food security, energy production, sewerage treatment and conservation of natural resources.

Bhaskar Kumar, a Class X student of Marwari High School designed a model “hi-tech mixed agriculture technology” based on the sound system.” “Using the sound system the machine gets activated which rotates the turbine making the water to flow for irrigation,” Kumar said.

While Ravi Shankar and Shashi Bhaskar of Netarhat Residential School provided a storage solution.

“Farmers can store onions in pitchers of charcoal and clay, which keep vegetables from turning bad,” Bhaskar said.
