The school, founded in 1962, has crossed its golden mark, but its cultural Odyssey has just turned sparkling silver.

Little Flower School (LFS), Telco, one of Jamshedpur's leading English-medium schools, marked 25 years of its cultural fest Odyssey.

LFS celebrated the silver milestone of Odyssey, a two-day cultural fest and intra-school contest, that started way back in 1991, and continues to be one of the most sought-after events in the academic year, on Sunday.

More than 200 schoolchildren from Class VI onwards, 30 alumni members, staff and teachers and principal Hilda D'Souza took part in the celebrations on school premises.

Dances, instrumental music and songs were showcased in the two-hour long programme put up by students.

Going down memory lane, a teacher of LFS said Odyssey had been the brainchild of Nilima Samuel, the school's vice-principal.

"The idea of Odyssey was conceived in 1991. The first year, it started helping students find a platform to express their creativity. Students in primary section take part in class concerts where it is mandatory for every child to participate and shed their inhibition. However, when the children reach Class VI, they can showcase their talent beyond academics in Odyssey," said LFS teacher Sangeeta Chatrath.

Odyssey-2015, which was organised in August, saw LFS groove to Calcutta rock band V4. Members of V4 sang timeless songs of ABBA, the Swedish pop group that ruled the charts in the 1970s with songs such as Knowing You Knowing Me, Fernando, Mamma Mia and others.

And, that was not all.

Odyssey this year held 40 events, all organised by LFS students' council, without help from their teachers.

"Everything is managed by the students, making them aware of the pros and cons of event management and teamwork from a young age," a teacher said.

Over the past few years, LFS has also started junior Odyssey, an-inter school event where the host school does not participate.
