Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has categorised city roads into nine categories based on which they would be widened as per the master plan.
The categorisation finalised by the standing committee on Thursday would be finally cleared at a board meeting scheduled on October 16.
While most of the major roads like Hinoo Chowk to Dhurwa Golchakkar (round-about) via Birsa Chowk would be widened to 150 ft, widths of other roads like Booty More to Karamtoli Chowk, Kutchery Chowk to Piska More, Kanke Road (Kanke Chowk to Governor House rear gate) would be increased to 120 ft (see box).
During a four-hour-long meeting that started around 10.30am, Mayor Aska Lakra, ward councillors and RMC officials decided that a separate “zonal plan” would be framed to decide the width of inter-linking roads within wards.
Virendra Kumar and Gajendra Kumar, officials of Feedback Infra Services Pvt Ltd, the company that prepared the city master plan, were also present at the meeting.
The nine road categories and their widths are:
T0:300 ft, T1:200 ft, T2:150 ft, T2A:120 ft, T3 :100 ft, T4: 80 ft, T5: 70 ft, T6: 60 ft, T7: 30-50 ft.
The roads in each category are:
T2: Hinoo Chowk to Birsa Chowk; Birsa Chowk to Dhurwa Golchakkar: Kantatoli to Railway Station
T2A: Karamtoli Chowk to Booty More; Kutchery Chowk to Piska More; Piska More to Nagri; Albert Ekka Chowk to Anjuman Plaza Chowk, Kantatoli to HB Road, Kokar Chowk to Lalpur; Kanke Road (Kanke Chowk to Governor House rear gate)
T3: Argora Chowk to HEC Gate; Argora Chowk to Kadru Chowk
T4: Kishori Yadav Chowk to Harmu Bypass, Kadru Chowk to Hinoo Chowk; Lalpur to Kutchery Road; Kantatoli to Dangratoli
T6: Lalpur to Albert Ekka Chowk
T7: Shaheed Chowk to Kishori Yadav Chowk (through Upper Bazar); Kanke Chowk to Sukurhuttu)
No roads have been identified in categories: T0, T1, T5.
