Jamshedpur, Nov. 19: It’s back to good old campus for around 250 XLRI alumni, as the two-day Annual Homecoming event starts tomorrow.

Organised by the XLRI Alumni Association since the past six years, the event combines nostalgia with networking to forge a bond between past and present students.

The success of the event can be guaged by the fact that the number of visiting alumni has shot up by 110 from last year. Last year, 140 alumni members participated in the event. Among those slated to be present are 25 alumni members from the batch of 1970.

As part of the event, XLRI archives will be inaugurated tomorrow. Tapan Das, former chief mentor, Confederation of Indian Industries and president, Aspen Institute, India, will address the JRD Tata Oration for Ethics in Business.

A major attraction of the reunion extravaganza will the felicitation of three alumni members across different categories — academics, lifetime achievement award (among senior alumni) and young achiever’s award.

“The schedule is planned so that former students can see how the B-school has evolved over the years. They will also be able to meet the faculty and also the current crop of students. There are also about 50 alumni members who would be visiting us with their families. At a certain point we felt that there were an accommodation crisis but thankfully we were able to tide over it,” said XLRI Alumni Association national president.

“Students from XLRI are on a par with best management students from across the globe. However, the institute has always tried to imbibe a sense of ethics in students and as alumni members we have continued with this tradition. The alumni association had set up an endowment fund last year, which would help develop society,” said XLRI Alumni Association president (Jamshedpur chapter) Ranabir Sinha, president of the , Jamshedpur chapter.

This year, for the first time XLRI has also started online registration of alumni.
