Koderma, March 21: Two days after students went on the rampage inside its campus, the prestigious Sainik School seemed to be walking down the reconciliation path.
Yesterday afternoon, school principal Colonel P. Chakraborty called an urgent meeting in which it was decided that the school will not lodge an FIR against the outgoing school students involved in the violence. “The school administration has decided not to lodge an FIR with the local police station. The situation might aggravate and the students’ careers might be at risk, ” said a teacher on condition of anonymity.
The meeting was attended by all faculty members, including the headmaster Major Samarveer Singh and registrar G. C. Kar. The principal also instructed teachers and 12 housemasters to ensure that the situation gets back to normal at the earliest.
The school campus donned a peaceful look after the students left the hostel for home.
Sources said teachers roamed inside the campus till 4 am today apprehending more untoward incidents. They had received information that some students were still in Jhumri Tilaiya town, barely 20 km from the school.
Some staff members of the school tried to explain the rampage on condition of anonymity.
“It is true that there are some teachers who do not match the expectation level of the students. The education level here is really good till Class X. But it changes drastically from Class XI. When the students complain about erring teachers, the headmaster asks them to explain their position. The concerned teachers can easily guess which students have complained. They ask the headmaster to keep an eye on the students,” said a teacher. “During the farewell ceremony, Bhavesh Ranjan, the school captain, said students always have respect for some teachers, while they only have foul things to say about some others,” he added.
