Jamshedpur, Aug. 29: The primary and high school teachers of the district have been asked to implement the CBSE curriculum in government schools.
The deputy director of education, South Chhotanagpur, Chandra Kant Tripathy, while addressing principals and teachers at the local Sakchi High School here stressed the need for proper implementation of CBSE curriculum in government schools. He assured teachers that NCERT books would be supplied to all government schools in the district by the end of September this year.
“The CBSE curriculum has been introduced to bring about a qualitative change in the education scenario and hence we have to ensure that the teaching methodology for CBSE is implemented effectively,” said Tripathy.
He directed the district education officers to conduct regular training programme on the curriculum for government school teachers at the resource centres in various blocks.
Tripathy said the process of identifying two schools in every district is going on. The selected schools will be developed into model ones up to the Plus-two level. According to Tripathy, the days are not far away when admission in government schools would be made as per merit. “Students seeking admission in government schools will also have to face merit tests as prevalent in private schools, Tripathy said.
Problems of the government-aided minority school teachers also came up for discussion.
Minority school teachers complained that they had been deprived of their salaries since the past 9-10 months. Referring to their problems, Tripathy pointed out that the allotments from the state government have been held up as the utilisation certificate from several districts, including East Singhbhum, is yet to reach the education department.Tripathy also directed the education officers to hold Shiksha Adalat in every block to hear the grievances of teachers and offer solutions.
