Ranchi, Dec. 24: Success strategy for your business venture: cash in on a celebrity’s name. But play your legal cards right.

That is what propreitor Abhishek Mukherjee has done. His restaurant Mahi, The River, on the Harmu Bypass shares the name with our beloved Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni but it is not named after him.

The owners have got their geography right in more ways than one. Stressing that the name has no semblance with the cricketer, Mukherjee said, Mahi is a river in Madhya Pradesh that runs up to Rajasthan.

This means no legal trouble over the restaurant name. Incidentally, the restaurant is strategically placed, too —metres away from Mahi’s new house that is under construction on the Harmu Bypass.

“We hope to invite Dhoni on his next trip and get him to try a few dishes. After interacting with him, we may even include some of his favourite delicacies in the menu.I think he will be here in the capital next week,” Mukherjee said with confidence.

It was a merry opening for the restaurant on Christmas eve. Its eatery Crossroad — done up in red and silver — was quite full today.

This 66-seater air conditioned dining space has hit a chord with some locals.

The management has expansion plans in place already. A coffee-cum-cake shop and an icecream parlour are on the cards, a staff said.

A separate enclosure has been made for guests to host private parties. Laser lights have been installed, too.

The capital lacks good joints and this is a welcome change for residents of Harmu and Argora, said Sumit Das, a corporate employee. “The name is attractive and will immediately attract people. But the food and the ambience is important for the restaurant’s business in the long run. It is new and its service is very good, too,” Das added.

Who said what’s in a name! It could be a success mantra for your business venture.
