Girls had a blast on Day 5 of Synergy 2013, the ongoing 22-day annual sports and cultural fest of RIMS, Ranchi, as the competitions lined up were too close to their hearts.

The venue reminded one of social functions like wedding and Karva Chauth as the girls, bent over each other, made designs on palms with henna. The mehendi competition, along with nail art and outfit painting contests, gave enough chances to the medicos to test their creativity.

Around 12 students of the 2009 and 2012 batches took part in the mehendi competition. The girls were divided into groups of two and each of them had to apply mehendi on the palms of the partner.

At the end of the day, the first prize went to Rupa and her partner Akansha while Angel and Neelam came second. The third prize was bagged jointly by Nagma and Sujata, and Anshukita and Anjula. They got certificates and medals.

All agreed that this was one of the most artistic events of the entire fest. “We love to apply them on our palms. But this was a different experience altogether — making traditional designs to win a prize,” chorused Rupa and Akansha.

The nail art competition brought out the fashionable side in eight would-be doctors as they came up with innovative shapes, figures and designs. This segment too had teams of two. “We drew birds, penguins and animals like panda and bear on the nail,” said winners Angel and Amrita.

Surabhi and Mecie came second followed by Varsha and Manisha.

There were four competitors in the outfit painting contest. They were to bring any outfit like salwar suit, T-shirt, jeans or even caps and make innovative designs on them.

In the sports segment, a game of carrom was held.

Amit Anand, a member of the organising committee, said: “Tomorrow, we will hold events like painting, twist of taste and collage.”
