
Train services in the Chakradharpur railway division will be affected for around 10 hours on Saturday due to construction work between Gamharia and Sini stretches of Seraikela-Kharsawan.
According to a notification issued by South Eastern Railway (SER) and Chakradharpur division on Wednesday, construction work of two low-height subways (LHS) between Gamharia and Sini would affect movement of trains in both Up and Down lines. Officials said the railway block would begin at 9.15am and continue till 6.45 pm.
Train services are likely to be restored late in the evening.
As a result of the block, several trains will have to be diverted or cancelled:
? Howrah-Barbil Janshatabdi Express, Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Superfast Express and Howrah-Mumbai-Duronto Express on the Howrah-Mumbai route would be diverted via Gamharia and Kandra
? Saturday's Tata-Gua Passenger and Barbil-Tata Passenger has been cancelled
? Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express will be halted for over one hour in Chakradharpur division, while the Tata-Bilaspur Passenger will leave one-and-half-hours later than its scheduled departure time of 5.45pm
? Tata-Chakradharpur MEMU train will leave Tatanagar 30 minutes behind its scheduled departure time of 6.40pm
? The Durg-Danapur Express will be halted for 30 minutes at the Chakradharpur railway station.
Spokesperson for Chakradharpur railway division Satyam Prakash said that no freight train would run between Gamharia and Sini during the duration of the block. "We may plan diversions of some other trains if it was necessary after consultations with other railway divisions," he said.
Tatanagar station manager O.P Sharma said the details of cancellations and diversions of trains would be announced over the public address system at various stations under the Chakradharpur division so that passengers are aware of the changes beforehand and can reschedule their plans.
Amit Khandelwal, a local businessman who was supposed to travel to Barbil by Janshatabdi on Saturday, said, "I will have to change my travel plans as I don't want to take risk."
