Once an adolescent film buff from Ranchi, Md Saifullah Tauheed's work today receives tweets from the likes of Big B and Rajkumar Hirani.

The 26-year-old PP Compound resident is the chief assistant director of Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho, a social satire based on a true incident that hits screens across Jharkhand this Friday.

In the three-hour film, director Vinod Kapri narrates the story of a village youth who is falsely accused by a strongman of raping a celebrity buffalo that earned the title of Miss Tanakpur. The influential man gets the khap panchayat pass a verdict that the "culprit" has to marry the "victim".

The director has managed to bring together an ensemble cast of talented actors like Annu Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Rahul Bagga and Hrishitaa Bhatt in the movie.

Speaking to The Telegraph from Mumbai where he was busy with the film's promotion on Thursday, Tauheed said, "The film is based on a true incident that happened in Rajasthan. What the director has tried to show is how a common man is caught between the administration and judiciary to seek justice."

However, Kapri chose to set the film in Haryana instead, "because he likes the native tongue". The movie has a mix of Hindi and Haryanvi dialogues.

As chief assistant director, Tauheed has handled production, dubbing and editing of the film. "The film's trailer is grabbing eyeballs. It has already notched more than a million views on social networking sites. Celebrated filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani and Subhash Kapoor have tweeted their support to Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho. Even Mr Bachchan has posted on Twitter," he said.

The film has earned rave reviews from Chief Justice of India H.L. Dattu and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who watched it during a special screening.

Tauheed completed his Class X from Bishop School in Ranchi and did his Plus Two from Cambrian Public School. "I did my mass communication from Delhi and worked as a journalist and RJ before I bagged a prestigious assignment from Imtiaz Ali whom I met in Jamshedpur. After that there was no looking back," said Tauheed who also worked as a directorial assistant in Jannat 2 and Rockstar.

The Ranchi lad is excited that the film will be released in his hometown.

"This film will surely appeal to cine-goers in my city," Tauheed said.

While Fun Cinema in the capital will screen three shows, Glitz has one show scheduled for Friday. In Jamshedpur, Payal Cinema and Eylex Fun n Films will screen one show each. In Dhanbad, there are three shows at Inox.
