Though cinema, as an industry, exists for the entertainment of the common man, understanding the nitty-gritty of films and film-making is quite a difficult task. Each frame in a movie has to be planned and the light, colours and camera angles add dimensions to the plot.

To understand cinema, knowledge of films and aspects of film-making is essential. Without technical knowledge of the art, it is difficult for one to understand the thought process that goes behind each dialogue and each frame.

A special summer course on film appreciation, launched by the Celluloid Chapter, Jamshedpur, aims to bridge the gap between the common man and films. The course is scheduled to start on May 4.
