Jamshedpur, April 4: Kenkre Football Club posted a 3-0 win over Josco Football Club today in the ongoing AIFF second division I-League qualifying round at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

N. Stephen, a foreign recruit, displayed fine form to guide the Maharashtra team to victory amidst drizzle in this afternoon. His goals came in the second half after striker Floyd Dharmai drew first blood in the 36th minute.

Josco, which played a 3-3 draw versus Danjong Boys Football Club on the inaugural day of the fixture on Saturday, was no match for Kenkre in a one-sided affair.

Kenkre played with a perfect game plan and never hesitated to attack. A solid defence also complimented the Maharashtra team’s efforts.

Stephen, who tried hard to score in the opening half, was in his elements in the latter half, finding goals at ease.

He struck in the 68th minute with a fine grounder from the right flank, before adding one more against his name in the 89th minute, this time with a floater from just outside the box.

Josco never seemed to try and convert opportunities into goals. This gave their opponents enough leeway to call the shots during the entire stretch of 90-minutes.

“We hope to continue our winning spell,” a member of the Kenkre team management said.

The steel city has got the hosting rights of this tournament for the first time. Apart from JRD Tata Sports Complex, matches will also be held at Keenan Stadium.

The tournament, which will conclude on April 18, is being organised by Tata Steel under the auspices of AIFF. Two top teams from this group will qualify for the super league to be held in Meghayala at a later stage.
