Ranchi, Jan. 24: Jharkhand People?s Party (JPP) today announced to contest the coming Assembly poll with the promise of taking all possible steps to form ?greater Jharkhand? with all the 29 districts.
The party today promised that it would launch an agitation to include four districts from West Bengal and three from Orissa to Jharkhand. The state at present has 22 districts.
The working president of the party Mukesh Baba said JPP has full support of Trinamul Congress in this regard.
?The Trinamul Congress is supporting our demands. They have told us to raise the issue in the coming Assembly election. We will hold a meeting with the general secretary of All-India Trinamul Congress Mukul Roy who is arriving in Ranchi today,? said Mukesh.
Talking to reporters, the party president said JPP would contest 35 legislative Assembly seats in the state. The party will actively support Congress candidates on 16 seats.
?We had to choose between the BJP and the Congress for support. We have decided to support the Congress as there is a strong anti-incumbency against the BJP. Congress as a party is more mature and we expect better results from it,? he said.
