Ranchi: Road construction secretary Debasish Gupta has been appointed the chief electoral officer.
Gupta succeeds A.K. Pandey, who has been made chairperson of the state finance commission. However, Mahaveer Prasad, appointed road construction department secretary replacing Gupta through a notification issued on Monday, will continue as secretary of food and civil supplies department, according to a fresh notification issued on Tuesday. Building, construction and housing department secretary D.K. Tiwari has been given the additional charge of road construction department.
Jagpal Singh Burjia, who was waiting for posting, has been appointed planning secretary. He was holding the same post before he went on a long leave a couple of months ago.
Examination controller of joint entrance examinations Vaidehi Sharan Mishra has been appointed additional agriculture commissioner. Mishra will be replaced by special secretary of urban development department Jaishankar Tiwari. Special secretary (finance) Anjani Kumar has been made additional finance commissioner. All these three officials have also been given the pay scale of divisional commissioner, the release issued by personnel deputy secretary Pankaj Kumar Mishra stated.
Graft slur on officer
BOKARO: Deputy commissioner of Bokaro Amrendra Pratap Singh has asked chief of the welfare department posted in Ranchi to take necessary action against the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Bermo (Bokaro), found guilty of corruption charges.
The officer also stands allegedly accused of embezzlement of money besides disobeying government rules. After the complaint of corrupt practices being followed by the CDPO was lodged, the DC constituted a committee of three members, comprising of welfare officer Wilson Bhengra, executive magistrate B.K. Shukla and Bermo SDO Pramod Kumar Gupta, who after an inquiry, found the allegations to be true. The report was submitted to the DC on Monday evening.
Voter list
JAMSHEDPUR: The final publication of electoral roll in the district will take place on March 22.
The state election office has directed East Singhbhum district election office to defer the dates for final publication of electoral roll, which was earlier to take place on February 24.
Following the declaration of electoral roll, the district election office would undertake the work of photo identity cards for the new voters, whose names have been added in the draft electoral roll recently.
Phone service
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has decided to start a phone service to tackle the impending water crisis.
In this system, a tanker will reach the locality facing water shortages by making a phone call.
The initiative was taken following gradual rise in maximum temperature in the city.
Sources said the deputy commissioner, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, had also asked the special officers of three civic bodies to prepare an action plan to tide up with emergency situation.
Massacre
RANCHI: The BJP has come down heavily upon the CPI (Maoist) outfit in the wake of the massacre of several tribals in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
BJP state president Yadunath Pandey said it was a dastardly act and should be dealt with. It has sent a letter to the Chhattisgarh government asking them to take action.
BJP secretary Hridaynath Singh said the move was aimed at scaring the tribals who have taken up arms against the rebels.
