Ranchi, April 4: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains, which was held across the country today, left a majority of BTech and BE aspirants in the state stumped with its physics questions.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the examination in two parts - JEE Mains and JEE Advanced - for entry into the IITs and NITs. Around 50,000 students from Jharkhand appeared for JEE Mains, which was held in two shifts - 9.30am to 12.30pm for BTech and BE and 1.30 to 4.30pm for BArch and BPlanning.
From Ranchi, around 17,000 students appeared for the exam while the count in Jamshedpur was 10,000 and in Dhanbad and Bokaro 12,000.
There is also an option of taking the exam online, which will be held on April 10 and 11.
Those clearing the examination will be eligible for JEE Advanced. Only 1.5 lakh qualifying students from across the country will be able to appear for the Advanced test scheduled on May 24.
After the first examination was over today, students came out complaining about the paper, which had 90 objective questions in physics, chemistry and mathematics.Most found the physics part to be the most difficult.
"The physics paper was really tough. All the questions were based on concepts. But I am happy with the chemistry portion - it was the easiest," said Akansha Kumari, who has appeared CBSE Class XII examination from DAV Public School, Hehal.
Shruti Sinha, another JEE aspirant, added: "I could attempt the chemistry and mathematics questions, but physics was beyond our expectations, who had come all the way from places like Daltonganj, Dhanbad and Patna to accompany their children to the examination centres, , considered to be the most difficult of all competitive exams I don't know the reason behind this drop," he added"
