Elephant injures 40-yr-old Pump donation Blood camp Temple closed Football Hockey Thumbs Up

Elephant injures 40-yr-old

A wild elephant injured a 40-year-old man at Gobarghushi village in Patamda on Saturday. The victim, identified as Bhim Sabar, a resident of Gobarghushi, has been admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital, where his condition is reported to be out of danger. Eyewitnesses said the elephant attacked the victim with its trunk and tried to trample Sabar, but he managed to escape.

Pump donation

Kudy Mahanty Ciren’s Opportunity, a recently formed charitable trust, has donated a handpump on Sunday to the Mukteshwar Dham High School at Harina village in East Singhbhum district. Formed in the memory of Kudy Mahanty, daughter of Rupa and Niroop Mahanty, the trust got the pump set constructed for Rs 25,000 by the Tata Steel Rural Development Society. Niroop Mahanty said the Trust would install such hand-pumps in the surrounding villages of Jamshedpur annually for the next 10 years.

Blood camp

Uranium Corporation of India organised a blood donation camp in association with Voluntary Blood Donors’ Association at Narwapahar Hospital on Saturday. About 118 units of blood were collected from the camp attended by employees from Narwapahar and Turamdih Mines, the Atomic Energy Central School and CISF unit and several other wings of the UCIL. Deputy general manager (Mines) Narwapahar D. Acharya and other dignitaries donated blood on the occasion.

Temple closed

The Beldih Kalibari temple would remain closed to devotees due to ambubuchi for four days, beginning from Sunday evening. The rituals at the temple would resume from June 26 morning.

Football

Mohammed Sporting defeated Tinplate 1-0 in the JSA super division football league tie on Sunday at Keenan Stadium. In the JSA “A” division match between Andhra Sporting and Udayaman at Gopal Maidan, the latter won 4-0. The “B” division tie between Aruna Samity and Dobo Sangram at Armoury ground ended in a 2-2 draw.

Hockey

Auto and Non-Auto would clash in the finals of the Tata Engineering Inter-divisional Hockey Championship to be held at the Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium in Telco on Monday. Both the teams had topped the points’ table.
