Jamshedpur, Dec. 31: They might not have plans to go to clubs or hotels to usher in the New Year, but students of XLRI, National Institute of Technology (NIT) and MGM Medical College do not want to let go of the day just like that.
The students have planned in advance to welcome the New Year in their own style.
While maximum students are out on a vacation, final-year students of NIT will get to enjoy on campus. “We miss our family and friends on occasions like these but we have made some plans to enjoy and welcome 2010. Since we could not let the evening pass like every other day, we have arranged for a small party on the campus that would begin from 9pm. Dinner and dance is on the party menu,” said Ankit Manaskant, a final-year student of NIT.
The NIT campus has about 150 students who have stayed back for their campus recruitment. The celebrations will be double as most of them have got their jobs.
Similar is the situation with the final-year medical students of MGM Medical College in Mango. Though they have their internal examinations from January 4, they do not want to miss the New Year celebrations on campus. Here too, students have arranged for music system, dinner and dance session.
Some of their friends from the campus have opted to celebrate the day on highway hotels. “We are confused. We have got our examinations but we do not want to miss the party. Some of them have preferred to go to nearby restaurants but rest of us are in campus and will enjoy in their own way, welcoming the New Year with new resolutions,” said Abhijit Vipul, a final-year medical student of MGM.
