Jamshedpur, Jan. 30: Tension simmered in Seraikela town and its adjoining areas after residents of ward number 10 of Rajband area found the idol of Lord Hanuman at a local temple partially damaged.

Over 1,500 local Sangh Parivar activists gathered at the temple and demanded action against the culprits.

They also blocked the Adityapur-Seraikela main road for over six hours. The protesters were armed with lathis and swords.

Deputy commissioner Vandana Dadel and superintendent of police Bimal Kishore Sinha rushed to the spot to tackle the situation.

The district administration assured the Sangh Parivar of action against the culprits.

“The situation is absolutely peaceful and under control,” Singh told The Telegraph this evening.

He added: “We have arrested one person and have ordered a probe into the incident. The enquiry report would be submitted soon,” he said.
