Jamshedpur, June 27: Success tastes sweet, but musical success is definitely sweeter.
For Sanchali Chatterjee, who notched the third highest honours in the recently-concluded Sa Re Ga Ma, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, the musical hunt show, life has suddenly changed into a dream world.
A former student of DBMS English School, Sanchali is currently shifting base to Mumbai. ?Mumbai is the place for all aspirants and the city has just the right kind of opportunities. But a lot of sincere effort needs to be blended with it,? said Sanchali, over telephone from Delhi, where she is currently visiting her elder sister.
After lending her voice as the lead chorus in Fanaa?s Republic Day song, Sanchali has her hands full with live concerts in Gujarat with show partner Rajeev. Talks are on for her next project with renowned music director Lalit of Jatin-Lalit fame, for his maiden film as an independent music director.
Though the strongly-pitched Sanchali-Rajeev duo lost out to the other two couples in the semi-finals, they had nothing to lose as the entire nation watched the emotional outburst of the judges, singer Hariharan and music composer Leslie Lewis.
?It was wonderful to see the musical stalwarts cheer for us. Their initiative has given us the opportunity to be under the tutelage of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Sahab,? she said.
Both the singers are learning the nitty-gritty of playback singing from the legend.
After obtaining a ticket to the musical reality show, she was pursuing her graduation through correspondence from the Rabindra Bharati University in Calcutta. One year down the line and she is headed straight towards Mumbai.
?It was a second chance when Zee decided to kick off its new version of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, and my pairing with Rajeev created quite a stir,? she said.
Asked if she had any personal favourites in the show that announced the winners last Saturday, Sanchali preferred a diplomatic answer. ?Both the jodis were my good friends,? she said.
