Ranchi, Oct. 26: A fruit drink will soon set up shop in the state capital.

Mango-flavoured Frooti will now be produced in Ranchi as its manufacturer Parle Agro Private Limited has signed an agreement with the Swastik Group of Ranchi to produce Frooti mango drinks and Bailey mineral water.

The construction work for the two factories at Tatisilwai is in an advanced stage and production is likely to start from the first week of December. The project, spread across four acres, will provide employment to 150 people.

This is the first food-processing unit to come up in Jharkhand, at a cost of Rs 13 crore. Swastik Group director Binay Sarawgi said the drink produced from the Tatisilwai plant would be marketed in Jharkhand and Bihar.

He added that his company has also taken the franchisee of other Frooti products and will be the sole distributor for Jharkhand and Bihar.

Parle Agro Products Limited director Ashish Chatterjee, who was in Ranchi recently, said the factory, being set up by the Swastik Group, will produce Magic Frooti (smaller version of Frooti) and bottled Frooti. The second factory will produce the Bailey mineral water.

Chatterjee said the mango drink would be produced using mango pulp brought from Andhra Pradesh.

?We use one kind ? the Totapuri variety of Andhra Pradesh ? for taking out pulp to maintain a uniform taste in all our packets,? he said.
