Four new faces in squad

Jamshedpur, Oct. 6: In a bid to strengthen the middle order and give more punch to its bowling attack, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has included four new faces in the state under-22 squad for the Col CK Nayudu Trophy matches.

Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, who will be donning the India A colours in the NKP Salve Challenger Series to be held in Mohali from October 10, will lead the team.

Announcing the 15-member squad for the season 2005-06, JSCA secretary B.N. Singh said Manoj Kumar Singh, Rahul Kumar, Basudeo Chakraborty and Birendra Choudhary have been included in the team.

Batsman Singh and wicketkeeper Chakraborty are city-based while medium-pacer Rahul Kumar is from Ranchi.

The squad currently has six batsmen ? Roshan Kumar, Ravish Kumar, Atul Priyanka, Kundan Kumar, Manoj Kumar Singh and Birendra Choudhary ? three medium-pacers, Anitesh Kumar, Abhay Ranjan and Rahul Kumar and four spinners, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sunny Gupta, Sujit Roy and Manoj Kumar, and two wicket-keepers ? Subroto Ghosh and Basudeo Chakraborty.

JSCA secretary Singh said Nadeem, Gupta and Ghosh will be engaged in the under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy match after the opening tie of the under-22 match.

?They will be replaced by N.J. Prakash, Chandramani Singh and D. Chakraborty. The selected players have been asked to collect the registration forms from the JSCA office and submit the same by October 7,? he added.

The final squad consists of Shahbaz Nadeem (captain), Subroto Ghosh, Roshan Kumar, Ravish Kumar, Atul Priyanka, Kundan Kumar, Manoj Kumar Singh, Sunny Gupta, Sujit Roy, Anitesh Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Abhay Ranjan, Basudeo Chakraborty and Birendera Choudhary.
