It's nearing that time of the year again, when parents are all ready to send tiny tots to school.
Private English-medium schools in Jamshedpur will start handing out forms for entry-level admissions (LKG, nursery, UKG or Montessori) soon for the 2017-18 academic session, selections for which will be done through a lottery under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
According to information received so far, only Little Flower School in Telco Colony will issue forms for nursery this month on September 24.
Most schools, however, will do so in October and a few will do so after the Diwali holidays in November.
Some schools will upload the forms on their website, but most will distribute them from counters on their campuses, keeping in mind many parents who don't access the Internet. In case of online admission, parents will download the file, take a printout, fill it and submit it to the school office.
According to the RTE Act, schools will issue forms free of cost to those belonging to the economically weaker sections.
In October, among the notable schools to issue entry-level forms are Loyola School in Northern Town from October 17 to 21 (UKG), Hill Top School in Telco on October 1 (nursery), Dayanand Public School in Sakchi from October 19 to 21 (nursery and LKG), Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) in Kasidih and ADLS Sunshine School in Sakchi in October last week (nursery), JH Tarapore School in Dhatkidih on October 3 and 4 (LKG), Motilal Nehru Public School in Sakchi on October 18 and 19 (nursery) and Jamshedpur Public School in Birsanagar between October 19 and 21 (nursery).
Among the schools which will issue forms online include DBMS English School in BH Area in Kadma and Bistupur-based DAV Public School. While DBMS will upload forms on their website for LKG in the last week of October, DAV will start from the first week of October for nursery.
Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya (VBCV) in Telco and Rajendra Vidyalaya in Sakchi will issue forms after Diwali holidays, that is November for nursery and Montessori, respectively.
"We will have 10 counters from where forms will be issued. We are still toying with the idea of introducing the admission process online because we want to launch it flawlessly. As of now, forms will be issued only for a day," said Puneeta B. Chouhan, principal of Hill Top School.
While some schools will conduct the lottery manually, some have separate software for the task. Many schools have not yet decided what they would opt for.
