Jamshedpur, April 20: For students aspiring to make it big in the fashion world, the tie up of the International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) with the prestigious Instituto di Moda Burgo (IBM), a fashion school in Italy, should come as a good news.

This collaboration means that the institute can now offer degrees in collaboration with the premier fashion school from the next academic session.

With the objective of producing world class stylists, the institute was founded in 1961 by leading fashion designer Fernando Burgo.

The tie-up was announced by Rashmi Chopra, the head of the centre in the city, who expressed happiness at the collaboration. It is also hoped that the collaboration will attract better placement prospects for the institute.

“There would be good placements for all students,” said Chopra, mentioning that all branches of the International Institute of Fashion Design would now be entitled to offer degrees in fashion designing courses in collaboration with the leading name in fashion school in Italy.

Recently, students of the city branch of INIFD had undertaken a survey on Milan to know more about the style patterns of the fashion hub of the world.

As part of their tie-up with the big name, IBM would provide books to the students each year to get students interested in knowing more about the fashion hub.

IBM has a record of offering an advanced system of research in the world of fashion and students enrolled with the institute look all set to reap the maximum benefit from this tie-up with this leading institute.

So far, students of INIFD have been placed with leading names in the fashion world, such as Tommy-Hilfiger, Lee and United Colours of Benetton, to name a few of the top names. It is hoped with this tie-up, students getting placed in well known institutes would only go up, said sources.

“We have a host of courses for students to choose from. Be it the commoner Fashion Design to the off-beat courses on textile and jewellery designing,” beamed Chopra, declaring open admissions for the next academic session.
