Jamshedpur, June 21: More than 1,200 fake National Council for Education and Research Training (NCERT) books were seized during a raid on bookstores in the city today.
The raids, which started in the morning, continued till late in the evening. Police teams, led by district officials, raided bookstores here following orders from deputy commissioner Nidhi Khare.
A.B. Pati, additional deputy commissioner who was part of one of the raid teams, said about 40 fake NCERT books, mostly of the seventh and tenth standards, were recovered from a bookstore in Sakchi.
Twelve-hundred books were seized from book stores in Jugsalai, Parsudih and Bagbera areas.
East Singhbhum superintendent of police Arun Oraon said investigations were on to find the sources of fake books.
