Ageing is a natural process and so are age-related problems.
Spilling the secrets of good health, glowing skin, and how to age gracefully, Ranchi Obstetrics and Gynaecologists Society organised a two-day seminar at RIMS auditorium that concluded on Sunday.
After the hourlong panel discussion on women’s health in advancing age, the core message was simple. For a woman, 35 may just be the right age to start taking preventive measures.
Eminent persons like former chief secretary of Jharkhand Laxmi Singh, chairperson of Jharkhand State Commission for Women Mahua Maji, activist Dayamani Barla participated in the seminar. Apart from them, a host of city-based doctors like Shobha Chakraborty, Usha Rani, Usha Nath and others also spoke on various topics.
Dr Shobha Chakraborty reminded the audience that proper care of health should begin from the age of 35 as it is the time from when degeneration of bones and other problems start to show up.
“Women from mid-30s should do regular physical activities and check their diet, which must include calcium and vitamin D3. Ignoring health now may lead to several problems later,” she added.
Addressing the problems of those who already are suffering from bone-related problems, septuagenarian physician Dr Chakraborty said that once degeneration of bone starts, it could not go back to its earlier state. “But preventive steps can stop from further loss.”
If the doctors prescribed strict diet and exercise, Laxmi Singh took the opportunity to apprise the audience about the available government schemes for elderly women.
