Jamshedpur, Dec. 7: Rajasthani dishes are drawing food lovers in large numbers to Fortune Hotel Centre Point.

The hotel is playing host to Padharo Sa — a Rajasthani food festival — that will continue till December 14.

With a variety of 51 dishes on offer, the hotel has focussed on authentic Marwari delicacies.

Gourmets can indulge in dal bati churma, gatte ka sag, dal maharani, baajre ki roti, mirchi ki salan, aloo mangodi and tamatar ki tari. For dessert there is kesaria jalebi, gajar ka halwa and shrikhand.

“The wedding season is on and people of the Marwari community can organise the wedding reception here. Some people here might like to taste these traditional dishes. This was also a way to tell people here that we are ready to cater for parties with Rajasthani dishes,” said Rajiv Walia, the general manager of Fortune Hotel Centre Point.

To create a perfect ambience , the waiters will be dressed in traditional costumes with turban, dhoti and short kurti. Walia said the idea was to create an authentic environment true to the desert land.

Vegetables like kachri (beans), phali, kairia and kamal kakri (lotus stems) have been imported from Rajasthan to give the authentic taste.

“Rajasthani cuisine is generally sweet and salty. We have used a lot of saffron and cardamom to bring out the real flavour. Though Rajasthani cuisine is mainly vegetarian, we have included some non-vegetarian item in the menu,” said master chef Ajit Singh who is here for the festival.

The food will only be available for dinner.
