Bokaro, Dec. 27: Supporting the BJP’s decision to join hands with Shibu Soren’s JMM to form the next coalition government, former party leader and present Independent Chatra MP Inder Singh Namdhari said it was a wise move to consolidate its position.
Namdhari, whose son Dilip Singh fought the just concluded Assembly elections from Palamau on a BJP ticket but lost, is of the opinion that the party has got an opportunity to serve the people, who are crying for development after large-scale corruption.
“The BJP has suffered a string of defeats in the Assembly elections, which is very demoralising for the party workers. It has been left with no other option, but to support JMM to form the government. This will not only boost the sagging morale of the workers, but also strengthen the party’s base here,” Namdhari told The Telegraph at Bokaro circuit house, where he had come to attend a function. “Again, by agreeing to form the coalition government, the BJP has stopped the corruption-ridden reign of Independents,” the former Assembly Speaker added.
The Chatra MP went on to say how he faced humiliation on the Madhu Koda episode at a recent parliamentary committee meeting at Chandigarh when he asked senior MPs to help Jharkhand by engineering establishment of hospitals like AIIMS. “When I made the proposal, a senior BJP MP commented that if Koda agreed to part ways with his illegally amassed wealth, the state could set up two AIIMS-type hospitals. All the other MPs laughed at the joke,” Namdhari said.
Speaking about his constituency, the MP said he was trying his best to lay new railway tracks. “Railway minister Mamata Banerjee has promised to build 17km of rail tracks, connecting Chatra with Gaya, Ranchi, Palamau and other places,” Namdhari said.
