Jamshedpur, Aug. 9: The grass is all set to get as green, if not greener, on this side of the fence as far as nightlife in the city goes.
Those of you, who lament the fact that there are not enough opportunities in the steel city to let your hair down, put on your dancing shoes. Hill View Hotel and Resort, on National Highway 33, inaugurated their discotheque yesterday. “Our dance floor is around 500 sq. ft. There will also be a bar in the disco,” said Avinash Das, chief operating officer, Hill View.
“People visit hotels to take a break from daily routine. Music, along with food and wine, make such outings complete. Besides, the DJ nights we used to organise earlier were so successful that we decided to give the party animals of the city its first discotheque. There is no entry fee,” he added.
And the fun’s not over. More hotels and club are jumping on to the boogie train. The Regent and Golmuri Club plan to regularise their DJ nights. The Regent has been planning to regularise DJ nights and in a pilot venture of sorts, it has organised dance parties on August 14 and 21. “DJ Sachin from Calcutta is being flown in for the shows, which are strictly for couples. We are charging a nominal amount for vegetarian and non-vegetarian snacks and liquor. If this clicks, we will make it a regular feature,” said M. Bhaskar Rao, senior captain, The Regent.
Similarly, Golmuri Club, too, plans to organise a DJ night at least once a month or once every fortnight. “A new ice-cream parlour and an Internet cafe will soon be inaugurated in the club. DJ nights and dance parties have been received a tremendous response from our members. So, we plan to make them a regular feature,” said Anand Krishna, secretary, Golmuri Club.
“Youngsters here are starved for opportunities to have fun and the absence of discos is a major spoilsport. Though we only plan to have more dance parties for the moment, we are contemplating starting a disco of our own in the near future,” Krishna added.
